Stoked Lounge - New E-ROK Downtempo Mix

I played a few hours the other night for the Stoked crew in NYC. This is a group of amazing people - snowboarders, surfers, skaters and supporters who work with kids in NYC to give them adult mentorship and positive life guidance. Their vibe and energy is a perfect match with my DJ style. Check out this sample of the night.

It's not an E-ROK mix without some Thievery Corporation, Gramatik, Quantic style - bringing that funky downtempo eclectic vibe to life!

MENdar - West Coast Podcast Mixtape Contest 2016 (Deep House)

This is a FLAWLESS deep house mix by MENdar. It's equal parts mysterious, trance-y, deep and melodic. I love every second of it. The flow grabs you. The track selection is perfect, and the transitions are smooth and deceptively simple (but in a very good way). This mix is amazing.

NEW DOWNBEATSCAPE MIX: Crescendo Breaks

I posted my latest downtempo mix --> Crescendo Breaks. The title refers to how I approach my mixes like stories - I start w/ a foundation, layering on sounds, themes, and creating an arc that lends itself to listening to the mix the whole way through.

This mix is a selection of tracks that starts out chilled, with some hip hop beats, and crescendos into funky and electronic breaks. Featuring tracks by Gramatik, Thievery Corporation, Nickodemus, Mr. Scruff,  and remixes of Fugees, Nelly and Missy Elliott.

David August is a 22 year old German DJ and producer who was named one of Resident Advisor's Top Live Acts in 2014. His Boiler Room set shows why - it is a perfect mix. The deep house set is the perfect pacing, pairing of beats and sounds, vocals exactly when you want then, and yet so simple - its no frills, just perfect execution in every way. Banshankri - Tree Of Life Festival Entry - Chillout Psychedelic Mix

Wow, this is a beautiful and mesmerizing mix. It's the perfect balance of energy that compels you to move, not quite dance, but just move however you feel like. The psychedelic nature is not of trance, like many psychedelic festival entries, rather this is something different. Downtempo for sure, but captivating and bordering on meditative (or certainly meditative if you choose). I absolutely love this mix.

I have eclectic tastes, but I always enjoy a good beat. I've recently been inspired and prompted to post a new house mix, something I've never really done before. I've added house and electro tracks to my mixes when they fit, but this is the first time I recorded a full house/electro mix. AMBUSH - South African DJ mixes amazing dub, reggae and jungle

If DJ Ambush is in town you have to go see him, and if you come across his mixes, you just have to listen - i'm loving all of his sounds, an amazing mix of dub reggae and jungle sounds. Not too crazy, and just downtempo enough that you can really get into this however you want, channel the energy however you need.

Awesome mix of African beats - just super fun and jumpy. If you don't enjoy this energy, then I just don't know...
